The exhibition “From Board to Board” showcases the Acadian tradition of construction that has been passed down “from generation to generation”. The exhibit features an historical as well as a technical overview of Acadian architecture. There is a glance on the first dwellings of the 1604 Habitation of Sainte Croix Island to the houses destroyed in the conflagrations of the Great Upheaval of the mid-18th century. Houses of the post-Deportation era, from the 1760s up to the mid-19th century, are also represented with examples in drawings and photographs. Different construction types found in Acadia are illustrated such as log, timber-framed, torchis, and plank houses. The typical evolution of an Acadian house, with its addition of dormers and an ell, is also shown. In addition, the exhibition presents a comparison of Acadian houses with those of the Louisiana Cajuns, the Québécois and the Anglo-Americans.

L’exposition « D’une planche à l’autre » souligne la persistance d’une tradition de construction chez les Acadiens qui s’est transmise « d’une génération à l’autre » depuis bien longtemps. L’exposition présente un survol sur l’architecture de la maison acadienne, tant au niveau historique qu’au niveau technique. Il y a un regard sur les premières habitations de l’Île Sainte-Croix en 1604 jusqu’aux maisons détruites dans les déflagrations du Grand Dérangement au milieu du XVIIIe siècle. Les maisons post-Déportation datant des années 1760 jusque vers le milieu du XIXe siècle sont également représentées avec des exemples en photographies et en dessins.
